SART Program

New Sexual Assault Response Program in the High Desert

The Today’s Woman Foundation in collaboration with Providence St. Mary Medical Center has opened the High Desert’s first comprehensive sexual assault response center in April 2025. This trauma-informed facility will give local survivors access to the care and support they need—right here in our community.

Until now, sexual assault victims in the High Desert have had to travel to San Bernardino for forensic exams—sometimes waiting hours after a long drive through the Cajon Pass. The new program eliminates that barrier by providing on-site services at Providence St. Mary, including:

  • Forensic exams by certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE)
  • Advocacy and mental health referrals
  • Emergency care tailored to survivors’ clinical, legal, and emotional needs

The Sexual Assault Resilience Program is expected to help over 120 victims per year, addressing a critical gap in services for this region’s underserved population. The program is supported by a $100,000 grant from the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and additional backing from organizations like Today’s Woman Foundation.

This initiative ensures timely, compassionate care—so survivors can begin the process of healing close to home.
